ONE HERO, ONE HEROINE
In the second of his videos for The Great American Challenge, the very talented Broadway musician and composer, Andrew Beall, decided that he wanted to feature 2 people who are very important to him.
The first is very well-known in literary and Broadway circles, but maybe not so well appreciated elsewhere. He is the acclaimed novelist, Victor Hugo, whose famous novels include “Les Miserables” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” He is a giant of the Broadway scene of course because of the world-reknowned musical adaptation of his novel “Les Miserables.” He is of especial significance to Andrew because he has played as a percussionist in the Broadway show. Although he is not American, Andrew feels that Victor Hugo’s world view as an author and social commentator is very “American” in its nature.

The second is Andrew’s mother. We all know how important mothers are in the world, and here Andrew pays tribute to the influence his mother had in his positive approach to life. Enough said, I’ll let him talk about her in his own words!
WHO IS ANDREW BEALL
Hailed by New York Classical Review as “Spectacularly Virtuosic”, international soloist and composer, Andrew Beall’s works have been performed in Siberia, Italy, Germany, China, Lithuania, Sweden, UK, South Africa, and Mexico, to name a few. His second major orchestral work, Affirmation, was premiered at Avery Fisher Hall and recently recorded by the Siberian Symphony Orchestra.
Andrew has performed on Broadway in The Lion King, Les Miserables, Spiderman, In The Heights, and A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder. He has released two solo albums on BMP Records: Deliverance and Glass Jungle, and his third album (Concerti), will release in the Spring.
Andrew Beall’s musical, Song of Solomon, recently finished a sold-out run at the Thespis New York Festival, where it was nominated for Best Musical and acclaimed as “A Breathtakingly Epic Crescendo” followed by a sold-out Concert performance with Tony-nominated Robert Cuccioli at the Actors’ Temple in New York and The Wick Theater in Boca Raton.
Thank you so much, Andrew, for your wonderful work and for being a part of this series!

THE GREAT AMERICAN CHALLENGE is about what is great about America and how we can do better. It is about coming from a place of celebration, because if you only focus on a problem, or if you are negative, or angry, you can never find a solution because everything is always so dire, but if you honor, celebrate and appreciate all the beautiful and wonderful things this country, and everyone who lives in this country, have contributed, then we can find solutions together because we know if we solved a problem before we can face and solve the challenges of the future.
Until next time, go out each and every day and Capture the Spirit of Life with Passion!
